You’re Going To Love The Way We Do Things

Family you do choose!

The standard philosophy out there is ‘You can’t pick your family but you can your friends’ I say hogwash! Family may come along by blood relation, or be blended together or they just have always been there. However, there are people who once you are introduced to you you instantly know these people will become your Family.

I have surrounded myself with a family of business people who look out for my well being, who care about what’s going on in my world and who will support my visions because that’s what families do!

I trust these business family relationships; they are based upon a set of core values, mutual respect, and love for what we are to each. We chose each other to build our family!

MYBC Consulting will help you build your family… what is stopping you from becoming part of the family!

What are you thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today. I hope your day is spent with family, friends, loved ones and lots of alcohol to get you through those awkward conversations with everyone at your dinner table tonight. Since it’s Thanksgiving I decided to write about what I’m thankful for. My two pugs. Without them I would have […]

Black Friday

Black Friday

Today is Black Friday… the day retailers “hope” to sell a large quantity of goods at low prices to put their ledger books is the black. Who came up with this concept that racing to the bottom with low prices will land you on top? It always baffles me when my clients want the lowest price BUT expect the highest quality…where I went to school this math doesn’t add up.

Somewhere part of the transaction is going to suffer in quality, or suffer in misunderstanding or suffer in not meeting the clients expectations…it has to!

My thoughts are more geared to ‘Return It Tuesday’! A made up term I coined today because when you truly look at your purchases over the weekend regrets set in due to your NEEDS weren’t met…you bought based on a WANT!

Take back control of your purchases by only dealing with a professional, knowledgeable, and trusted sales person whose core responsibility to satisfy YOUR expectations.

Director on the Board of the BCFCA

Today was the British Columbia Floor Covering Association Board’s last meeting of the year and what a year we had!

Highlights include electing three new board members, Thalia Sieben of Oakhill Distribution (PurParket), Meliha Simms of Exclusive Floors, and Allan Sieben of Boa-Franc (Vintage Hardwood & Mirage Flooring). All of these new board members bring vast knowledge of the hardwood flooring industry and are well known as experts. We also held numerous seminars around the province with the well attended Flooring Expo in October. In 2017 collectively the Board has chosen the location of Nanaimo, BC with date of October 24th. We have planned many exciting opportunities for BCFCA memebers at this expo!

We look forward to this next year as one growth in membership, in visibility of our organization and in the continue elevation of BCFCA standards in the flooring industry.

If you wish to inquiry about being a member you have the opportunity to join us on December 8th for our Christmas luncheon (email me for more information).

Leader of One!

The story goes before you can lead a group of men and women you must be a leader of one…yourself! I often joke with baristas at Starbucks who ask me when they see me laden down with my briefcase and business manuals ‘Are you here for meeting with a someone?’ …my reply ‘Yes…me, myself and I!’ They look at me quizzically and laugh and my response to their laughter ‘I always shows up but sometimes me and myself are off doing their own thing’. When I calls the our executive board meeting to order we collectively come together because of MYBC Consulting has the power of One.

EveryONE gets to choose their attitude for the day.

EveryONE gets to choose how to apply their aptitude for the day.

EveryONE gets to soar to altitudes beyond imagination for the day when it starts with the…

Leaders of ONE!

What are you reading?

How do you keep yourself in a constant state of learning? In the early 80’s I had the pleasure to see motivational business speaker Brian Tracy under the sails of Canada Place in Vancouver, BC. His talk and wisdom set me on this path of always wanting to learn more and to be curious. He mentioned one of his successes came from daily reading of business books (just an hour a day) In this day of digital media we are getting information from news feeds/alerts, tweets, blogs or email blasts on how to run a successful business …. I still love the BOOK. Choosing the book and holding it in your hand shows commitment, feels tangible, and puts you in charge of your knowledge. So grab a highlighter or Post-it notes and start your journey of learning.

Hi how are you?

May we help you?

Covering’s magazine editor called to interview me on customer service…ME???

At first I was ‘why me’???….Then I sat a little taller in my seat and said out loud WHY NOT ME!!!

I have devoted my professional career in sales to helping clients solve problems, to building solid foundation of relationships and to be in a constant state of learning. All these skills and abilities has made me an expert customer service. A profession I Love…period! (Or drop the mike?)

To be in service of others gives me many joys and rewards.

The 24/7/365 World

Business never sleeps, someone somewhere always needs something. Our challenge as business owners is to know when to be ‘open’ for business….nobody wants to miss a sale.

However, you need a break, a rest a recharge of your batteries. You deserve it!

Practice the rule of 24/48/72….this will save your sanity, your business and your weekend.

The follow-up rules:

24 hours to acknowledge an email or phone call… why it respects the persons time.

48 hours to set up a plan of action, be it an appointment or solution to the issue brought you.

Finally… 72 hours EVERYTHING has been dealt with…client happy and you are able to move on with business.

Note I said ‘practice’ at times business falls away from the rules…but you will have a plan in place to follow-up in Our 24/7/365 World!

Opportunity doesn’t knock!

Opportunity doesn’t knock!

Opportunity Opportunity Opportunity is not a door, window, or house for that matter.

Opportunities happen for me when I am engaged in the moment, in the conversation and in the person. Simple?

The skill to be learned is LISTENING!

What have you learned by listening…leave me a comment of what you learned by listening to your clients.

Remember ‘God gave Us two ears so we may LISTEN twice as much as we SPEAK’
